Day 33: Pushing More

Starting Point: Roaring Fork Trail (257.3)
Ending Point: Deer Park Mount Shelter (272.1)
Total miles: 14.7 trail miles
Steps: 37,474
Injuries: None
Achievements: Bluff Mountain

The backpack clinic was up early and that was good motivation to get up early.  We were hiking soon after sunrise and it made a big difference.

Our goal was eight, with a stretch goal of ten.  It was all hinging on Blaze's foot.  We gathered on top of Bluff Mountain for lunch.  Everyone was feeling great.  The last place to camp would be a 14.7 mile day, a new record for us.  We agreed that this would be the new goal.

The weather was great.  The trail was well groomed.  I kept a 3.2 mph pace.  I made camp by 4:15!

The most important thing was that I found myself able to dig into climbs!  I wasn't out of breath.  I'm finally getting into shape!  The trail legs are coming!

We're now just three miles from Hot Springs.  We'll do a resupply, but also rent a hot tub.  We'll leave early the next day.  We have momentum, and we want to keep it.
