Day 32: The Day of Ice and Mud

Starting Point: Groundhog Creek Shelter (249.0)
Ending Point: Roaring Fork Trail (257.3)
Total miles: 8.3 trail miles
Steps: 22,690
Injuries: None
Achievements: Max Patch

We continued to test Blaze's foot, so we limited our miles to just eight.  The shelter after, Walnut Mountain, at 13 miles was corrupted by two hikers who suffered from the Norovirus, but instead of staying in their tents, stayed in the shelter.  Because of that, we didn't want to hike there.

We hiked up to the snow line.  It was cool, but warm enough that the snow was melting.  I was pelted by chunks of snow most of the day.

I reached Max Patch by noon.

I couldn't find anyone, so I hiked to the goal.  The Dunkeroo was there.  We had lunch, but Dunkeroo already claimed a spot in the shelter, so we were definitely staying.

It was relaxing.  There was trail Magic.  A group that trains new hikers.

I took a nap.  When I woke up, there was a hiker who hiked most of the PCT.  He came off because he lost too much weight.  We shared stories for the others.  My crew learned that my crazy stories were not made up!

Overall a good day.
